Great Britons join forces for 22 day charity cycle challenge Sir Richard Branson announces Virgin Media’s sponsorship of the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012
Wed, 30 Nov 2011
Virgin Media has today pledged its support to the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012 – the charity bike ride taking place next year to raise millions of pounds for charitable causes. Fronted by two Great British sporting legends - former England Rugby captain and World Cup winner, Lawrence Dallaglio and former England cricketing captain, Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff - who lead a team of over 250 riders on the 2,817km route from Greece to London.
This week, Sir Richard Branson joined Lawrence and Freddie on a three-seater tandem to announce Virgin Media’s sponsorship of Cycle Slam 2012 and kick-start the fundraising.
Spanning across 22 days, the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012 supported by Virgin Media will be set over five stages. Kicking off in true British-style on St George’s Day (23rd April) from the ancient birthplace of the Olympic Games, Olympia in Greece, the journey will take the riders through Italy, across the Swiss Alps, and through France, before reaching London on 18th May. Each Cycle Slam rider is expected to raise in excess of £3,000 to support Lawrence and Freddie in reaching their fundraising goal of £2,012,000. www.virginmoneygiving.com/DallaglioFlintoffCycleSlam

Brave Chris Howgate tackled the wind and rain to embark on his own personal challenge to help raise money for The AF Foundation. Chris, along with his family and friends started at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where Chris has been treated since being a baby, and finished at the One Day International at Old Trafford 3 days and 33 miles later, where Freddie pushed him on his final leg. He wanted to give something back to Freddie, who he met 3 years ago at Alder Hey, and they have remained friends ever since.

Team of six tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks
Wed, 06 Jul 2011
On July 2nd a team of 6 took on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, and are looking to raise £1,000 for the AF Foundation. This was no easy challenge taking on the might of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Thanks to Craig, Aaron, Ryan, Josh, Ian and Dave for supporting The AF Foundation.
