FOUNDATION GETS TELEVISION SPOTLIGHT
Posted by Andrew Flintoff
We thought it was about time we updated everyone on the progress we've been making at the Foundation towards our goal of setting up a state-of-the-art child rehabilitation unit at Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool. Regular followers of the Foundation will know that Alder Hey is the first of many child rehabilitation units we hope to build in the coming years at all the major hospitals in the UK.
We want to get this first project right so we can produce almost identical units in all the other hospitals. We had our latest meeting at Alder Hey a few weeks ago. We talked through the plans with the good people at the hospital and saw the plans and figures. We've also got to the stage were we are tendering for the work and getting a final budget and costings before we start the building work. It is exciting to be this close, but we know there is still some hard work ahead fund-raising so we can have the unit up and running by the end of this year. We hope to have a few dates and venues for the Foundation's events to announce soon so watch this space.
For those of you who want to get an idea of what we're trying to achieve here at the Foundation, can I advise you have a look at BBC North West's Inside Sport programme, who did a special feature on us.
